The iconic British Scomadi Scooter is set to enter the Indian markets by May 2018. The scooter looks quite similar to Lambretta but comes with a price tag of around Rs 2 Lakh. In European markets, Scomadi models are one of the most selling scooters.
Scomadi Scooters, barring their resemblance to the old lovable Lambretta, is going to be launched in the Indian market. Reports further suggest that the scooter has already been through homologation procedure. In India, it has joined hands with Pune-based AJ Performance, a one-stop facility which offers bespoke customization, maintenance, and sourcing of parts for luxury and performance cars. AJ Performance is lead by Alexander Johnson, a popular figure in high-end car circles in western India.
The brand produces Lambretta GP-styled models like the Turismo Leggera 50, TL125, TL200, Turismo Technica 125 and TT200i. It once manufactured its scooters in collaboration with a Chinese establishment but soon moved operations to Thailand in its quest for higher quality standards. The CBUs of the scooter will be imported from Thailand, till Scomadi starts it production over here.
