Our homegrown utility vehicle manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra plans to launch several new vehicles in the coming 2 years. Some of these products are expected to be showcased at the upcoming 2018 Auto Expo. The first product to launch from Mahindra’s stable is the U321 MPV that is slated to go on sale right after the 2018 Auto Expo. Upon launch, the upcoming Mahindra’s MPV will compete with Maruti Ertiga and Toyota Innova. Sometime in the initial half of this year, will be the Mahindra Rexton launch, the second launch planned by the company. Mahindra S201 Launch Price
According to the reports, the Mahindra S201 will launch sometime this year. The base variant stretching under 4 meter is expected to cost around INR 8 lakh and the over 4 meter would cost around INR 11 lakh.
Mahindra S201 Specifications
A fresh batch of the upcoming Mahindra S201’s spy shots surfaced online. Underpinning the compact SUV is the Ssangyong Tivoli’s X100 platform. According to reports, Mahindra is developing two versions of the S201 i.e. an under 4-meter offering seating for 5 and a 7-seater over 4-meter variant. The former variant will compete with Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ford Ecosport, Tata Nexon. The spy shots clicked the sub-4 meter version which is slated to launch first. The over 4-meter version will compete with the likes of Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks and Renault Captur. Slated to be the premium model, the over-4 meter variant will launch at a later stage.

The upcoming Mahindra S201 will host two fuel-efficient engine options. A 1.2-litre GDi turbocharged petrol engine and a 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine. The engines will be shared amongst both versions. The 1.2-liter turbocharged petrol engine would churn out 140 bhp and the 1.5-litre diesel is expected to deliver 124 bhp. The S201 will be the most powerful car in its segment upon launch.

Mahindra S201 Nomenclature
The upcoming compact SUV from Mahindra, codenamed S201, is expected to be released as XUV300. The seven-seater variant will be the ‘Plus’ model. The upcoming Mahindra S201 will carry forward the XUV nomenclature and would mark the starting of the XUV lineup.
