It has become a pretty well-known fact that the Hyundai Santro is about to make a comeback. The new car will return in an all-new avatar and will try to build on the legacy of the original tallboy. The upcoming new model has been spotted testing on numerous occasions. Going by various reports, Hyundai India could be planning to replace the Eon with the new Santro in the entry-level segment. The spy images here show a heavily camouflaged car. However, an interesting detail that catches our eye is the touchscreen infotainment system for the dashboard. The new Hyundai Santro 2018 has been internally codenamed as the AH2. Production of the upcoming car’s engine has already commenced at the company’s facility near Chennai. Launch Date (expected) | September 2018 |
Mr. Y. K. Koo, MD and CEO at Hyundai Motor India Ltd, has confirmed that the launch of their new small car, which has been internally codenamed as the AH2, will take place in the second half of 2018. While the company is yet to disclose the market name of the ‘AH2’, the employees at the company’s Tamil Nadu plant are already calling the AH2 the “new Santro”. New Hyundai Santro 2018 Price in India
Minimum Price | Rs 4 Lakh |
Maximum Price | Rs 5 Lakh |
2017 Hyundai Santro Sportz | INR 4.58 Lakhs |
2017 Hyundai Santro Asta | INR 4.91 Lakhs |
Safely expect the new Santro to be priced really close to the Maruti WagonR. Our guess is that the new 2018 Hyundai Santro prices could start at Rs 4.00 lakh. The top-end variant could cost around Rs 5 lakh. While Hyundai’s plan to bring back the Santro remain unconfirmed, bringing back the nameplate could prove to be beneficial. Currently, the Eon and i10 are nowhere close to their competitors in terms of sales. An all-new product with a strong brand recognition could be just what the doctors ordered.

City | 17 KMPL |
Highway | 21 KMPL |
Overall | 19 KMPL |
The earlier Santro offered a good mix of fuel efficiency and performance and the 2017 Santro should be no different. As the engine will be shared with the Eon, the new Santro 2017 could offer up to 21 KMPL!
New Hyundai Santro 2018 Interior & Exterior
As can be seen in the spy images, the Santro’s dashboard will have a touchscreen unit. Hyundai cars have always impressed with their interior quality and features. The 2018 Hyundai Santro interior should be no different. The car is likely to offer a spacious and a comfortable cabin.
The new Hyundai Santro 2018 will feature company’s Fluidic Design theme to remain in sync with other Hyundai models on sale in the country. The Hyundai Santro was the first tallboy in India. In spite of slightly oddball proportions, the Indian car market lapped up the Santro and accepted the rather unconventional design. Today, tallboys have become common in our market and hence, the Indian market shouldn’t have an issue with the 2018 Santro’s tallboy design.
