The new Hyundai Verna 1.4 Petrol variant launched in India to bring down starting price of the C segmenter
The South Korean automaker has launched yet another variant of its most successful sedan, the Verna. Based on the extended i20 platform, the Verna has delivered strict competition to the Honda City and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. The new Hyundai Verna 1.4 Petrol models aim at bringing the cost down while improving fuel efficiency figures afterall we Indians like asking the question “Kitna deti hai?”. With the new engine on sale now, the customers can now choose between three engine options and purchase accordingly. On the visual front, the only defining factor remains the 1.4 badge on the boot. Excited for the latest variant of the 2018 Hyundai Verna, read along for more details.
Hyundai Verna 1.4 Petrol Specifications
As speculated before, the 2018 Hyundai Verna now gets the 1.4-litre engine in favour of better pricing and fuel economy. The 1.6-litre petrol engine attracts a higher tax rate and that is the main reason why cars such as Honda City, Ford Ecosport use downsized derivatives of their 1.6-litre engines. Although the tax difference is minimal, a discount in final price will attract the buyers with India being a price sensitive market.
The new 1.4-litre four-cylinder engine makes 100 PS of power at 6,000 rpm and 134 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed transmission powering the front wheels. These numbers look healthy enough as the Hyundai Verna is already pretty light on its feet and will be more affordable considering the discounted price.

Hyundai Verna 1.4 Petrol Price
The latest variant of the 2018 Hyundai Verna, the 1.4-litre engine, joins the already available 1.6-litre petrol and diesel engines. The E grade now does not offer the 1.6-litre petrol engine and is only available in EX grade but not with the 6-speed manual transmission. The new Verna 1.4-litre variants are available at the nearest Hyundai dealership around you. The 2018 Hyundai Verna 1.4-litre E grade variant will retail for INR 7,79,990 ex-showroom and the EX grade will fetch a price tag of INR 9,29,990 ex-showroom. Considering the 1.6-litre engine on these grades used to retail for just INR 20,000 more, the early buyers were at a big advantage as it offered about 20% more power for 2% more price. The impact the 1.4-litre has on sales will be noticed overtime.
