Mahindra and Mahindra is all ready to set the Indian SUV market on fire. The company plans several launches during the following months with various body types. While we are awaiting the launch of brand new SUVs like the Rexton based Mahindra XUV700, the current XUV500 is due for a facelift.Mahindra and Mahindra is upping their game in terms of SUVs both for the domestic market by bringing in new products and international market like USA by setting up a plant to manufacture electric SUV. 2018 Mahindra XUV 500 Facelift – Launch Price
As per the reports published last year, Mahindra is planning to launch the XUV500 facelift earlier this year. We expect Mahindra to showcase the XUV500 facelift at the upcoming Auto Expo 2018 with sales starting soon afterward. Sharing the stage will be both Tivoli based S201 and the Rexton based XUV 700 along with several future electric vehicles. We expect Mahindra to demand a premium over the current XUV500’s price. The new XUV500 could range anywhere between INR 12 lakh and INR 18 lakh ex-showroom. The Mahindra XUV500 petrol variant will join the lineup along with the facelifted model and could be the base model with a sub INR 12 lakh price tag.
2018 Mahindra XUV 500 Facelift Specifications
The major updates of the upcoming 2018 XUV500 however will come under the hood. The XUV500 facelift will feature updated motors churning out more power while being more efficient. Basically, the new Scorpio gets the current XUV500’s engine and the upcoming XUV500 facelift will feature an even more powerful engine. This will ensure XUV500’s place in the lineup since it will be the most powerful Mahindra on offer. The 2.2-litre mHawk will churn out 170bhp as compared to 140bhp on the current one and will produce 400Nm of torque as compared to 330Nm on the current one. There’s np word on the upgrade on the 1.99-litre mHawk diesel engine available in Delhi NCR yet. Reports that came up this week suggested that the petrol variant will be equally powerful meaning 170bhp of output. The facelift will continue to offer 2WD and 4WD variants. The customers continue to choose between manual and automatic transmission.
2018 Mahindra XUV 500 Facelift Changes
Identical to that of its sibling Scorpio facelift, the 2018 XUV500 will receive on minor updates on the outside. The body will technically be identical to that of the outgoing model. The front facia of the upcoming XUV500 facelift will feature certain updated elements like new design grille, updated bumper and headlamp design. The rear is expected to sport similar updates with an updated bumper design and LED taillights. New defining bumper skid plates might also be offered to make the crossover look more off-road friendly. The new XUV500 will sport a new radiator grille and a new air dam grille. New 10-spoke alloy wheels designed similar to ones of the XUV Aero Concept will replace the current ones. The tailgate will sport a revised license plate housing.
