The TVS Apache models are easily among the more performance-oriented products in their respective segments. The TVS Apache RTR 160, which is the least priced TVS Apache model in India, came in at a time when the performance hungry in the 150cc bike segment had started to feel the need for more power and better handling manners than the Bajaj Pulsar 150, which used to be the most performance focused 150cc in those times. However, thanks to the ever-evolving nature of our entry-level performance bike market, the once sharp TVS Apache RTR 160 has started losing out to new bikes like the Bajaj Pulsar NS 160. TVS is however working the next generation Apache RTR 160. The new bike is expected to launch at the Auto Expo 2018. Here are all the available details on the new 2018 TVS Apache RTR 160.

Unlike what was being speculated earlier, the new 2018 TVS Apache RTR 160 Series will get more than just a cosmetic makeover. It will come with several new features and possibly a retuned 160cc engine. Many other parts will be all-new. For instance, the latest spy images reveal a monoshock suspension at the rear. The upcoming models will also get many features from its 200cc sibling. Talkinag about the 200cc version, the manufacturer is ready to launch the TVS Apache RTR 200 FI ABS model.

New 2018 TVS Apache RTR 160 Price

The new model Apache will go on sale in two variants. The cheaper model will have a drum brake at the rear. The top model will get disc brakes at both the wheels. Thanks to many new features, fresher styling and new cycle parts, the new 2018 TVS Apache RTR 160 could command a slight premium over the current model. We expect prices to start at roughly Rs 80,000 and go all the to Rs 86,500 for the top-end model with rear disc and ABS.

We think that the new model Apache RTR 160 will be one of the many new bikes at Auto Expo 2018. The new model won’t be merely a facelift but will an all-new product. Here is a spy video of the upcoming bike-

While the new bike won’t get an all-new engine, the motor will be retuned to churn out more power and torque. We expect a peak power-torque of 16 BHP-14 Nm. This will make the bike’s performance at par with that of the new Bajaj Pulsar NS 160. The Apaches have been lighter than the Pulsars, and things shouldn’t change with the new RTR 160 and the NS 160. All this means that there are very good chances of the new Apache RTR 160 being quicker and faster than the NS 160. We expect a top speed of at least 125 KMPH and a 0-100 KMPH time of less than 13 seconds. ABS should be optional

New 2018 TVS Apache RTR 160 Design
Much like the current model, the new 2018 TVS Apache RTR 160 will employ a double cradle synchro chassis. There’s no doubt that the new bike will look fresh and modern, but it is very likely to share in plenty with the RTR 200 4V. The parts sharing will include the fuel tank and the exhaust end-can, both of which come straight from the RTR 200 4V. It’s not for sure as of now, but there might be an optional split seats setup. If the spy images of the new Apache 160 are anything to go by, the new 160 will look a lot bolder and muscular. The bike will get the same fully-digital speedo that’s being offered on the RTR 200 4V. Several styling enhancements like sporty decals and pin-stripped wheels should make the new RTR 160 all the more stunning.
