Regulars here would know that we have been pretty regular with uploading details on modified cars and motorcycles in India. This post, here, is a bit different. Well, it’s definitely about the modified Maruti Baleno that tries too hard to look like a Mercedes A Class. As a part of this modification, the Baleno hatchback seen here sports a different set of bumpers and alloy wheels. The front bumper has been fitted with a Mercedes Diamond grille. It also gets sporty air vents. These modifications are executed well enough to enable this Baleno to pass for a Merc, at least to the untrained eye.

The Baleno in question here isn’t the top-end variant, which means it doesn’t get the projector headlights and LED DRLs. Even at the rear, the car gets a new bumper, which sports a faux quad exhaust setup. There’s also a diffuser to enhance the visual appeal. The car riders on 16-inch alloy wheels shod with low profile tyres. The cabin also gets some modifications to help it look like the interior of the Mercedes A Class. There are no other changes. Mechanically and structurally, the car is totally unchanged. Well, this is all about the A Class. Or is it? The latest development on this car is that it has come under the scanner of Kerala RTO. The have not only impounded the car but also removed all the modified bits.

This is what TeamBHP Klub Class has to say about the episode-
– The State Transport Commissioner had received a complaint regarding a Maruti car with altered front end, structure and tyres.
– Mr. Anas (Motor Vehicle Inspector of Tirur RTO) charged a case and led the investigations.
– The car was confiscated with the help of police and a show cause notice (to deregister the car) was sent. The owner requested for 15 days to produce the car before the authorities.
– The car (stripped to stock) was produced before them and parts handed over, the last day. Authorities informed that fines will be levied after examination.
So, what do you think about this modified Maruti Baleno and the RTO’s act of unmodifying it?
