For months Fiat India was in news for its much hyped small car launch in India and was expected to take place in 2012 but recently at a press conference, the Chief executive officer of Fiat India Rajeev Kapoor said that as of now the company is focusing on the current line-up only and will not introduce any new model till 2013-14.
Many speculations were made earlier, whether the company will introduce Fiat Topolino in 2012 or a recently spotted camouflaged 2012 Fiat Palio or an all new, under 3 lakh rupee, CBU unit, but now the CEO has confirmed that no new models are there down the line and for the time being the company will concentrate reaping benefits from the existing product line-up.
Rajeev Kapoor said, “(There would be) no new car in short-term. It would come around 2013-14,” He added, “We would look to refresh the look of these cars so that the newness comes out and of course a new product has to come,”
“We are working on a new product. But at the side we are looking at building on the network and brand. We would focus on bringing in a new brand strategy to bring out the Italianess of the brands,” he said.
By italianess he means that soon there will be Fiat cafes and lounges in collaboration with Lavazza across the country which will be aimed at, as mentioned above, bringing the very essence of Italy in India and also give visitors a better feel of their products which will be on display at these places.
I hope the strategy works well for the brand as Fiat cars have a lot of potential which still needs to be exploited and i m quite sure they will succeed in it.
