Why Hyundai Eon Can Beat Alto In Small Car Segment?
We will do a detailed comparison in our car comparison series on Car Blog India when the Eon is officially revealed. In this section, however, we look at the salient points where Eon seems to beat Alto.
Better Exteriors – Eon is designed on the fluidic design language of Hyundai and looks much better compared to the contemporary looks of Maruti Alto.
Features & Interiors – Hyundai has been leading on the features front in most of its cars, be it Hyundai i10, i20, Fluidic Verna or any other Hyundai. The quality of material, fit and finish of Hyundai cars are much better compared to the Maruti’s. In Eon we expect better quality of plastic and interiors compared to Alto.
Safety – The Eon is expected to feature driver side airbag and ABS (not yet confirmed). If that it true, it makes Eon a safer car compared to Alto.
Performance and Handling – With a kerb weight of just 772 Kg, Eon is one of the lightest cars in its segment and has an ARAI rated mileage figures of 21.1 KMPL. Since the Eon has a longer wheelbase and good suspension and wheel specs, its expected to be a good at handling, but things will become clear after road tests only. Lets wait and watch.
After Sales Service – After sales service is one area where Maruti us strongest in India with its deep reach into the sales and service network throughout India. While Maruti excels at it, Hyundai is also catching up quite fast, but as of now, Maruti has the upper hand in this regard.
