Hatchbacks or small cars contribute the most to the Indian automobile market and if you are actually looking for a nice small car then the the number of options one has is more than enough.
So today we will we comparing the diesel versions of two of the small cars present in the market, Ford Figo and Tata Indica Vista, of which the latter got a recent facelift while former exists for quite some while.
Tata Indica Vista Exteriors Vs Ford Figo Exteriors
Talking about looks first, the Vista is an elegant looking car with enough chrome to make you feel that you are sitting in a premium hatch. The exterior design, though not designed well, looks fine and does not disappoint you. Sharp headlamps, body coloured ORVMs, chrome strips on rub rails and sides, dual tone alloys and a very solid built are some of the attention grabbing features.
The Figo is completely distinct and has a more powerful design. The short grille, large headlamps, flared wheel arches and a short design immediately turns your head. In spite of having less chrome on the body, the Figo looks much better. The aggression level and the overall feel is very good.
Ford Figo Dimensions
- Length = 3795mm
- Width = 1680mm
- Height = 1427mm
- Wheelbase = 2489mm
Tata Indica Vista Dimensions
- Length = 3795 mm
- Width = 1695 mm
- Height = 1550 mm
- Wheelbase = 2470 mm
There is not much difference in the proportions of the two cars and both are marginally ahead of each other in one or the other. The Figo being more towards the ground has a longer wheelbase whereas the Vista has a slightly better width and is appreciably taller than the Figo.

On the inside both the cars have a very different interior. The Vista has a centrally positioned instrument cluster with seamlessly integrated AC Vents. The beige colour of the upholstery is nice and elegant and gives an upmarket feel. Highlighting features include ABS with EBD, audio system with AUX-in, USB support and Blue S technology(Bluetooth connectivity), rear power outlet, height adjustable driver seat, steering mounted audio controls etc. The car also has the best in class legroom.
Ford Figo has a sportier interior with protruding circular AC vents and conventionally positioned instrument cluster. Despite being all black from the inside, the metallic silver garnish on the door trims, around the ac vents and central panel looks really good. The overall fit, finish and appearance of the Figo is much better and also is very sporty so our vote goes to Figo.

Car Blog India verdict – Tata Indica Vista Diesel Vs Ford Figo Diesel
No doubt the Figo is priced better and is almost comparable to the Vista but has a less powerful engine. Also the Figo comes from Ford’s stable which has always impressed on quality and driving pleasure. So if you are looking for a low on features car and want just enough space and power go with the Figo LXi as Tata’s are less known for reliability.
Even if you want a feature rich car opt for the Figo Titanium as it 50k less expensive but if you are more interested in features like beige interiors, power outlet at the back, chrome inserts then Vista will be an obvious choice. If i were asked to choose one of them, definitely Figo titanium would have been my choice.
