The New 2017 Ford EcoSport Facelift will launch in India around Diwali this year. New 2017 Ford EcoSport vs Tata Nexon vs Vitara Brezza Comparison – Exterior Design
Ford EcoSport Facelift- The refresh has brought some major changes to the front-end. The nose now looks a lot bolder and gives the ageing SUV a rather fresh identity. Also, the new grille brings the model in line with most new-age Ford cars. The facelift definitely makes the car look more aggressive and hence, more attractive, too.
Tata Nexon- Well, the Nexon looks nothing like anything else on the road. It features a rather sleek design that has enough spunk to catch your attention. A high ground clearance and several other bits, such as neatly sculpted wheel arches, infuse the SUV characteristics with the car. While the Nexon does look fairly more modern than both other models here, it misses out on the bold stance that the EcoSport facelift offers.
Maruti Vitara Brezza- The Brezza is all about clean lines and neat surfaces. The Maruti offering here looks the most conventional and plays the safest. While it might have a mass appeal due to its safe styling, the design doesn’t have much in terms of flamboyance. Don’t get us wrong thou, for the Brezza is a pretty handsome compact SUV. However, it doesn’t look special in the way the Nexon or even the EcoSport facelift do.

New 2017 Ford EcoSport vs Tata Nexon vs Vitara Brezza Interior Comparison
Well, interiors of these SUVs are a reflection of their respective exteriors. Here is how the interior of these three models compare-
2017 Ford EcoSport- While the design of the exterior remains the same, there have been several small styling changes that make the cabin look more modern. Both the steering wheel and the instrument console are new. The centre console has been revised and sees the introduction of a touchscreen infotainment unit. Lastly, the faux silver trim has been replaced by body-coloured ones. Overall, these updates are enough to add some freshness to the interior design.
Tata Nexon- The Tata Nexon looks as new-age on the inside as it does on the outside. The cabin gets a high quality plastic and offers a touchscreen infotainment unit that supports Android Auto. The overall design is nothing short of impressive and the cabin feels sufficiently airy too.
Maruti Vitara Brezza- Of these three, it’s the Vitara that looks the most conventional. The interior is definitely more spacious, especially towards the rear, than the EcoSport. However, in terms of aesthetics, it fails to score as highly as the Nexon or the EcoSport. In terms of features, it stands at par with both its rivals.

New 2017 Ford EcoSport vs Tata Nexon vs Vitara Brezza Specifications Comparison
The EcoSport will come with a set of new petrol engines that will be cleaner, more efficient, and probably more powerful, too. The Diesel engine is likely to continue unchanged. The Tata Nexon comes with 1.2-litre and 1.5-litre Petrol and Diesel engines respectively. Both these motors are turbocharged units and come mated to six-speed manual transmissions.
2017 Ford EcoSport- Currently, the EcoSport offers three engine options – 1.0-litre turbo petrol, 1.5-litre Petrol, and 1.5-litre Diesel. The facelift will get a new 1.5-litre three-cylinder engine instead of the current four-cylinder unit. This new engine is not only more powerful, but also offers a higher mileage. It offers a maximum power of 122 BHp and a peak torque of 150 Nm. The 1.5-litre TDCi Diesel is likely to continue unchanged. It’s not sure yet if the 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol would continue. The Diesel engine outputs 100 BHP, while the new Petrol engine offers 120 BHP.
Tata Nexon- The Nexon offers a 1.2-litre turbo petrol and a 1.5-litre turbo Diesel engine. Both these engines offer 108 BHP and come mated to six-speed manual transmissions. The engines are sufficiently high on mileage and refinement. We drove the Nexon recently and were might impressed with its engines.
Maruti Vitara Brezza- The Vitara Brezza is the only car here that offers just one engine option – 1.3-litre Turbo Diesel. This is the same Fiat-sourced 1.3-litre Multijet engine that powers at least half of all the Diesel cars in this price range. While the engine offers a good mix of performance, mileage, and refinement, it simply can’t match the outright power of the Nexon or the EcoSport. Also, with no petrol engine on offer, the Brezza loses out pretty easily in this section of the comparison.

New 2017 Ford EcoSport vs Tata Nexon vs Vitara Brezza Mileage Comparison
2017 Ford EcoSport- Ford India is yet to reveal the mileage of the new 1.5-litre Dragon engine for the EcoSport. However, our estimate is that it will offer around 17 KMPL. The Diesel engine offers an ARAI-tested 20 KMPL.
Tata Nexon- The Nexon boasts an ARAI-certified mileage of 17 KMPL for the Petrol and 21.5 KMPL for the Diesel model. While far from segment-leading, these figures are decent for the powerful engines that this compact SUV comes with.
Maruti Vitara Brezza- The Vitara Brezza emerges as the clear winner with an ARAI-tested fuel mileage of 24 KMPL.
New 2017 Ford EcoSport vs Tata Nexon vs Vitara Brezza Price Comparison
While prices of the new EcoSport facelift and Tata Nexon aren’t available at the moment, we have a fair idea of what’s coming our way. As you’ll see, there’s no clear winner of this section of the comparison.
2017 Ford EcoSport Facelift- Currently, prices of the EcoSport start at Rs 7.1 lakh and go all the way to Rs 10.71 Lakh. The facelift will bring in many new features, a new engine, and fresher styling. Hence, expect it to cost a bit more.
Tata Nexon- Prices of the Nexon start at Rs 5.85 lakh and go all the way to Rs 9.45 lakh. This means the new compact SUV from Tata Motors gets a really very competitive price tag. With prices like these, the Nexon comes across as a pretty high value-for-money product.
Maruti Vitara Brezza- The Brezza is the most popular compact-SUV at the moment. it has a base price of Rs 7.24 lakh and goes all the way to Rs 9.91 lakh mark. Expect the Brezza to face some heat from the arrival of the new EcoSport and the Nexon. However, Maruti Suzuki always makes it a point to surprise us and hence, new variants with ultra competitive price tags isn’t something that’s not possible.
New 2017 Ford EcoSport vs Tata Nexon vs Vitara Brezza Comparison Verdict
Exterior- The Nexon is a breath of fresh air when compared to anything else on sale today. It looks really modern and impresses with its coupe-like silhoutte and sleek looks. However, it misses out on the brawny, in-your-face styling that is characteristic of true-blue SUVs. The EcoSport now looks a lot bolder and much more modern. It offers the right mix of freshness and aggression. The Vitara Brezza is the most conventional-looking of the lot. While this might help it have a wider appeal, it has to the new EcoSport that looks the most aggressive and sufficiently modern.
Interior- The same can be said about the interior too. The Nexon gets a very premium cabin, but it is the new Ecosport’s interior that looks like it belongs to a conventional SUV. The Brezza’s interior is all about clean lines and neat surfaces. Overall, the winner of this part of the comparison has to be the Nexon, which offers a good mix of space, attractive design, along with a long list of features.
Specifications- Again, it is the EcoSport that leaves us impressed. It offers the most number of engine choices, followed by the Nexon. The Vitara offers just one Diesel engine and a lack of petrol engine option is disappointing.
Mileage- The Brezza is the clear winner here. With an ARAI-tested mileage of 24 KMPL, the Brezza’s Diesel engine offers a far higher mileage than what the Diesel models of the other SUVs here can manage.
Price- Prices are of new EcoSport are yet to be out, but we are pretty sure that they won’t be too different from the peices of the current model. The Nexon enjoys a huge price advantage at the moment. It will be interesting to see if Ford also decided to price the new EcoSport in a similar fashion.
Verdict- Of the three compact SUVs you see here, it’s the EcoSport facelift that leaves us the most impressed. True, the Nexon comes really close but we are still not sure about those slightly unconventional looks. Also, the EcoSport offers more powerful engines. The Brezza comes at the last place as it doesn’t have a petrol engine option, looks rather boring in comparison with the other two, and the least powerful Diesel engine.
