Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India (HMSI) launched the NAVI mini-bike last year to kick-open the doors to an altogether new segment of the Indian Two Wheelers market. The launch of the Navi was followed by that of the Cliq, another interesting mini-bike that is based on the Navi. Now, it seems like the company is planning to soon launch the most popular of its all mini-motorcycles ever. Yes, we are talking about the Grom MSX125, which was spied in India recently. While you can find all the images on this page, we have also put together all the relevant details on the Honda Grom India launch prospects along with expected prices, specs, and mileage. So read on!

Basically, the Grom looks like a slightly bigger, and more premium, version of the bargain-basement Navi. It looks very likely that the Grom will find itself positioned above the Navi in HMSI’s product portfolio. It will, of course, offer healthier specs and a more attractive design to justify the price premium. The test mule that has been spotted offers a gray and silver paint shade. Its headlamp has a striking resemblance to the one on the Navi. The fuel tank and some other panels look completely different though. Together with golden-painted alloy wheels, the new panels and the dual-tone paint job makes the Grom more attractive than the Navi.

Don’t get fooled by the small dimensions of this mini-bike. For all we know, the Grom MSX 125 might be promoted as a rather sporty offering. It will even get a single-channel Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), at least as an option. Powering it will be a 124.9cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that outputs 9.7 BHP and 10.9 Nm. The motor will come mated to a four-speed manual gearbox. Enough to make this rather diminutive two-wheeler sufficiently peppy, we reckon!
Honda Grom India Launch Date
Launch Date (expected) | February 2018 |
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India will showcase the new Grom MSX 125 at the Auto Expo 2018. Its market launch is likely to happen soon after the Delhi motor show. Once launched, the Grom will become yet another addition to the bike maker’s mini-bike portfolio. Like we said, HMSI might want to promote the Grom as a sporty offering.
Honda Grom Price in India
Minimum Price | Rs 62,000 |
Maximum Price | Rs 70,000 |
While the Navi went on sale at a really low starting price, the same won’t be the case with the Grom. Safely expect this mini-motorcycle to cost at least Rs 62,000. The fully-loaded model, with all the optional extras including the single-channel ABS, could cost up to Rs 70,000. At this price, the Grom will end up rivaling some mainstream motorcycles. However, it just might impress the college-goers and teeny bloopers with its funky styling, small dimensions (hence, immense flick-ability), and peppy engine.
Honda Grom India Specifications
Specs | Grom MSX125 |
Engine | 124.9cc |
Maximum Power | 9.7 BHP |
Peak Torque | 10.9 Nm |
Transmission | 4-speed manual |
The Grom on sale in Europe gets its power from a 124.9cc, single-cylinder engine that benefits from Honda’s PGM-FI fuel injection system. This engine outputs a maximum power of 9.7 BHP and a peak torque of 10.9 Nm. It comes mated to a four-speed manual transmission. For India, the engine might come with a carburetor. This will ensure the cost remains under a check. Other than this, the India-spec Grom could be much the same. Suspension duties will be taken care of by inverted telescopic forks up front and a monoshock unit at the rear.
Honda Grom India – Spy Images
The Grom MSX125 was recently spotted testing by our friends at Gaadiwaadi. These spy images show the upcoming Honda motorcycle in India being test ridden on public roads. There is absolutely no camouflage on the product. Also, from the looks of it, the motorcycle is not very far from its India launch.
Honda Grom India Mileage
Minimum Mileage | 47 KMPL |
Maximum Mileage | 52 KMPL |
As the MSX 125 has a 125cc engine, mileage will be pretty decent. Expect at least 47 KMPL. The peak mileage could be rated at somewhere around 52 KMPL. It may be noted here that mileage becomes an important factor for the success of any sub-300cc motorcycle in India. Hence, with a right mix of performance and mileage, the Grom is likely to get many takers.
