A few months back Honda had launched the 2012 Honda Civic which was criticized by all the car enthusiasts and experts for its disappointingly unappealing design. Keeping the mind the ongoing model in India, a lot was expected from the new model and it was supposed to be a jaw dropper but when Honda came up with the 2012 model, everything turned upside down.
Now the brand has launched the European model of the Civic, known as the 2012 Honda Civic EU version and with the same the manufacturer has regained the appreciation it deserves.
The first word that came out of my mouth when I saw this new Civic was WOW. The European model is just brilliant and actually this one looks like the next gen Civic and not the US specific model. From the front to the rear, all seems so striking and contemporary. The aggression level has moved a step further and no doubt the looks are amazing enough to blow anyone away.
Honda has kept it abreast with the time and has replaced the front lights with all new Xenon headlamps. The front bumper is a two tone one and is very much unique as it gets a small black portion in the middle, below the grille, which makes it look very sporty. The grille is even smaller now and blend with the Xenon lamps seamlessly.
Coming to the rear of the car, the integrated black spoiler which received a lot of complaints with the precious model, has been fixed. The earlier version’s rear spoiler troubled the driver when he or she would look into the rear view mirror and blocked a major portion of the view. Now as per Honda the problem has been fixed and the new spoiler only adds an oomph to the car and does block the view of the driver.The sides are slightly dull as there is nothing expressive except for two mildly flared wheel arches. The rear door handles have been repositioned and now are placed on the side of the window, as seen in Chevrolet Beat.
The interiors are again very impressive with a lot of good quality plastic and best possible finish. A multifunctional steering wheel, three pod instrument cluster, very stylish design bring the lost charm back. Honda says that the inspiration for this new design comes from the ”blended wing body” airplane.
