Renault is creating a lot of buzz these days. First it was the launch of the Renault Koleos, then the spotting of Renault Modus small car in Chennai and now the latest speculations hint that Renault Symbol, well known sedan in the global markets with a different name Renault Thalia, is soon going to make its way into the Indian automobile market.
Although there is no official word on the news, the car is expected to be launched after the launch of Renault Modus early 2012. Renault Duster SUV is also slated for its launch by 2012 mid and following the same will be the new sedan Symbol.
Experts say that the car will come with the same engine that is currently being offered with Renault Fluence. But again this is not confirmed and is only a speculation. There is a possibility that the brand comes with an entirely different engine.
Fluence’s engine is a 1.4 Litre CRDI diesel engine which generates a maximum power of 105 BHP at 4000 RPM and peak torque of 240 Nm at 2000 RPM.
As the car will be an entry level sedan, some of the tough competitors that will surely be in its hit list are Volkswagen Vento, Hyundai Verna, 2011 Ford Fiesta, Tata Manza, Toyota Etios Diesel, Maruti Swift Dzire etc. Pricing would fall somewhere between Rs. 7 and Rs. 9 Lakh but considering the looks of the car i don’t feel that it would be able to impress the look conscious buyers in India and if Renault does not keep the pricing tight and competitive than it will definitely account for another failure.
