TVS Motor Co seems to be busy readying a handful of new products for launch in near future. Yes, the much awaited TVS Apache RR 310S isn’t the only upcoming TVS bike in India. Other than a new flagship, the Hosur-based bike manufacturer has also been busy readying the new Apache RTR 160 and RTR 180 motorcycles. But wait, that’s not all. Thanks to the spy images you see here, we’ve got to know that the South India-based company is also working on an electric scooter that could be based on the Jupiter. The upcoming TVS Electric scooter you see here will be the second electric vehicle (ev) from TVS. THe manufacturer earlier launched TVS Scooty Teenz Electric. It seems like the new e scooter is in penultimate stage of testing. An Auto Expo 2018 launch doesn’t seem too unlikely. Expect this electric scooter from TVS to have a price of roughly Rs 60,000.

TVS Electric Scooter Spy Images
The spy pictures you see here clearly show an electric scooter that has been plugged in for charging purpose. While this test mule wears a heavy camouflage, it’s easy to make out the Jupiter-like form of the upcoming TVS scooter. We really can’t think of any direct rival to this scooter. True, there are a handful of electric scooters on sale in India, but right now, there’s no mainstream manufacturer that will rival the upcoming TVS electric scooter.

The upcoming electric scooter will share in plenty with the Jupiter. Hence, you can expect many similar design elements and features with its popular automatic scooter. The suspension and the brakes too are likely to come from the Jupiter. It’s also likely to have a similarly comfortable seat. It will also have a roomy flat floorboard and a large storage compartment. TVS is yet to reveal the specifications.

It’s very likely that the upcoming new TVS electric scooter will launch at the Auto Expo 2018. Like we said, it won’t be the first time that TVS will launch an electric scooter. It launched the TVS Scooty Teenz Electric several years ago. However, it will be a first for TVS to launch an electric scooter in the mid-size automatic scooter segment.

Based on the Jupiter, the new electric scooter from TVS is likely to be a bit costlier than the 125cc. We are expecting an ex-showroom price of Rs 60,000. At this price range, this new product won’t have any direct rival to speak of. The only competition it will face is from the handful of electric scooters from lesser known companies. While these e-scooters will enjoy a much lower selling price, the Juptier will offer larger dimensions, more features and a more matured ride.

Specifications will come to light only as the launch date nears. For now, all we know is that this TVS model will have an electric motor that will get its juice from rechargeable batteries. Transmission duties will be taken care of by an e-CVT. The brakes and suspension will come from the Jupiter.
