Honda Cars India has come up with a new limited edition of the Amaze compact sedan. Dubbed as the 2017 Honda Amaze Privilege Edition, the new model gets a handful of new features and some cosmetic updates to boost the appeal of the cheapest Honda sedan in India. The Privilege Edition is based on the S(O) MT variant. The highlight of this car’s features list is the new Digipad infotainment unit. This is the same system that’s also available on the new-generation City. The new special edition has an ex-showroom price of Rs 6.49 Lakh for the Petrol variant and Rs 7.73 lakh for the Diesel model. Specifications are same as earlier.

Coming to the interior, the new Amaze comes with a beige seat upholstery along with a centre armrest for the driver. The biggest highlight, however, is the new 7-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system. This unit supports Audio, Video and Navigation (AVN). On the outside, the new model comes with body decals and a Privilege Edition badge. Safety features include dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and rear parking sensors.

The latest special edition of the Amaze is based on the S(O) MT variant. It’s available in both Diesel and Petrol formats. While the Petrol model has an ex-showroom price of Rs 6.49 Lakh, the Diesel model costs Rs 7.79 Lakh. While the latest limited edition is costlier than the S(O) MT trim, the premium is justified through the longer equipment list.
The new Privilege Edition of the Amaze comes only a couple of months after the launch of the new 2017 Maruti Dzire. The new model should now help this sub-4-metre sedan fend off some of the heat it’s facing from the new-generation Dzire.
2017 Honda Amaze Privilege Edition Features
The biggest highlight of the features list is the new DIGIPAD infotainment system. This unit supports Audio, Video and Navigation. The system has an inbuilt 3D navigation system along with 1.5 GB of internal storage, MirrorLink support, Voice Recognition, Bluetooth and USB.
Other than this, the new 2017 Honda Amaze Privilege Edition also gets a beige upholstery along with an armrest for the driver. The new seat covers lend a premium feel to the cabin. The new seat covers have ‘Privilege edition’ embosed on them. Another new feature is the set of rear parking sensors. This addition goes on to enhance the convenience factor offered by this car.

The Amaze is available with two engines choices- 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol and 1.5-litre i-DTEC Turbo Diesel. While the petrol engine churns out a max. power of 87 BHP and a peak torque of 109 Nm, the oil-burner outputs a max. power of 99 BHP and a peak torque of 200 Nm. Transmission choices include a 5-speed Manual Transmission and a CVT for the Petrol. The Diesel engine is available with a 5-speed Manual Transmission only.

As there’s no change in the specifications, even the mileage figures remain the same. While the petrol engine variant has an ARAI mileage of 18 KMPL, the Diesel engine boasts a figure of 25.8 KMPL.
Like we said, the new Privilege Edition of the Amaze comes at just the right time. The set of new features should help it fend off some of the heat from the all-new Dzire and the Xcent facelift. Also, the fact that the latest special edition is based on the S(O) trim and not on the top most trim should help make this limited edition more accessible.
