GST IMPACT – Royal Enfield Prices Revised

We have been actively tracking the impact of GST on bike prices across the segments. Thanks to the Goods and Service Tax (GST), the Government can now have a uniform tax structure across India. The introduction of GST has been largely favorable to most bike buyers in the country. All two-wheelers with an engine size of less than 350cc come under the 28% tax slab. There’s an additional 3 % cess on two-wheelers with bigger engines. So, basically, this has meant that while many models (READ: 350 models with 346cc engines) from the Royal Enfield stable get cheaper, all other models see a price hike. Let’s have a look at Royal Enfield prices after GST.

It may be noted here that Royal Enfield sells as many as 11 models in India. Out of these, 4 bikes come with 346cc engines. These are the very models that witness a slight reduction in price. All other models have a an above-350cc engine and hence, see a hike in their prices.

• Bullet Electra gets the highest price cut of all Royal Enfield bikes in India.
• Classic 350 gets the second-lowest price cut.
• The not-so-popular Continental GT gets the lowest price hike of ₹ 301.
• Himalayan gets the highest price hike amongst all Royal Enfield models in India.

All this means that while GST implementation comes as a boon for buyers of Royal Enfield 350 models, prospective buyers of bigger REs will be slightly disappointed.
