Honda has been extensively working on its new small car for quite some now and finally it has come up with the Honda Brio which is based on all new platform. The specifications, features and expected price of Honda Brio has already been covered in our previous post on the same but the new interesting news will definitely please many of the aspiring buyers who wish the Brio to be slightly more affordable.
We have mentioned that the expected price will fall somewhat near Rs. 4.2 Lakh for the base variant and Rs. 5 Lakh for the top of the line variant but the fact of the matter is that Honda is following a new strategy and will price the base variant more closer to the nearest competitor in the segment.
We all know that Honda never compromises on safety and quality but this time around it will shed some of the safety features, which earlier were coming as standard, to make the car even more affordable and competitive with rest of the entry level hatchbacks.
As per the latest news the company’s popular and expensive i-SRS airbags which were supposed to come as standard, will be removed from the base variant but the ABS could be retained. The i-SRS airbags are quite expensive as compared to the conventional airbags and therefore the company might rule out the plans of installing the same into the base variant, thereby bringing the cost down. Considering the cost of the i-SRS airbags, the company might cut the cost by Rs. 45,000 to Rs. 60,000.
But still at this price tag one would own a Brio which is brilliant in quality and has an extremely refined engine. So all in all this new strategy will help Honda grab many more sales than expected from the earlier standard variant.
