Skoda is ready with its new C-Segment sedan which will replace the Skoda Octavia in India. The new sedan will be named as Skoda Lauretta, which interestingly sounds like the fusion of word Laura with Jetta. Anyways, as per a confirmed report by Autocar India, the Lauretta has design elements inspired by Volkswagen Vento Sedan. The Lauretta will come with the same engine which Vento has. A 1.6 Litre MPFI Petrol Engine which produces 105 BHP of max power and a 1.6 Litre CRDI Diesel Engine with a max power of 105 BHP. The Lauretta will feature a 5 speed manual transmission.
The Lauretta will be officially launched around Diwali in India and deliver will take 2 to 3 months more to start. The Lauretta is expected to be priced below Vento in India, so expect a price of close to Rs. 8 Lakhs ex-showroom (approximate estimated price). The Lauretta sedan was earlier speculated to be Skoda Rapid car which was inspired by the Skoda Vision D concept car.
