Maruti Suzuki India is on its toes in the slowing Indian automobile market. With overall sales of cars in India showing a stagnated or slow growth graph with recent price hike in petrol prices and increased car load rates, people have been postponing their car purchase. To keep the momentum going strong at Maruti Suzuki, the R&D has pulled up its socks to bring 3 to 4 new car models every year for next 5 years. The most recent of these launches in coming future will be the Maruti’s MPV, the Maruti R3 which is on road test for quite some time now and will probably hit Indian roads in coming months.
Apart from the R3, a new and updated model of Maruti Swift Dzire 2012 is also in the pipeline which is will be lighter, smaller in length and cost compared to the existing Swift Dzire which is an already popular budget sedan in Indian Automobile market. Apart from this, the Maruti 800 replacement small car is also being tested and has been spied already, which is likely to make an appearance in the Auto Expo 2012 will be the small car product in the 800 CC segment and will be priced below the Maruti Alto. A new model of the Maruti A-star is also expected, however, no details on the same are available officially or unofficially.
With the market dynamics changing rapidly and new brands and vehicles coming into Indian markets gradually, the competition is heating up especially in the small car segment. To keep up with its leading position and keep the growth momentum strong in the coming years, Maruti will put more efforts on new product launches, research and development activities. The new R&D center is also in pipeline at Rohtak in Haryana. There is also expected to be a substantial budget allocated for new product development which will help Maruti Suzuki keep itself in the top selling charts across various car segments in India.
