Audi launched the new A4 in India in September 2016. Until now, the sedan had been on sale in India only with one petrol engine option. Diesel variants of the A4 have been added to the lineup. The delay in the new Audi A4 Diesel India launch was caused by the lower quality of diesel available in India. Audi has had to make necessary modifications to its new engine, which was designed to run on Euro 6 grade diesel. A4 diesel gets a 2.0 L TDI engine along with a 7-speed automatic. Prices of the new Audi A4 diesel start at Rs. 40.20 lakh (ex-showroom New Delhi).

The diesel variant of the new Audi A4 is powered by a 2.0 L Turbocharged engine. It puts out a max power of 190 HP and a peak torque of 400 Nm. A 7-speed dual clutch gearbox handles transmission duties. Audi is claiming a 0-100 KMPH time of 7.7 seconds, which makes the diesel faster than the petrol variant.

The new model 2016 Audi A4 is based on the second-generation of the company’s MLB platform, which basically means it is lighter than its predecessor by around a 100kg. Audi is claiming 7% better fuel efficiency. However, exact figures are not available yet.
