The Maruti Vitara Brezza has bagged the coveted ‘Indian Car of the Year (ICOTY)’ title this year. This comes as a further validation of the very positive response that this SUV has garnered in a relatively short span of time. It may be noted that Maruti just celebrated 1.72L bookings since its launch in India. The Maruti Vitara Brezza was judged as the winner of ICOTY 2016 based on aspects like price, fuel-efficiency, styling, comfort, safety, performance, practicality, technical innovation, value for money, and suitability for Indian driving conditions.
The Maruti Vitara Brezza is powered by a 1.3-litre DDis four cylinder Diesel engine that has a sufficiently high power output of 90 PS and a peak torque of 200 Nm. The engine comes mated to a smooth-shifting 5-speed Manual transmission. The Brezza has an impressive fuel mileage of 24.3 KMPL. Apart from this, this small SUV offers a long list of features and a very comfortable ride. In spite of a relatively small footprint, the Brezza’s cabin is high on space and practicality. Priced between Rs 7.19 lakh and Rs 9.66 lakh, the Vitara Brezza is a pure value-for-money offering.
For the ICOTY 2016, the Vitara Brezza outperformed as many as 13 cars that made it to the jury round. The top six contenders included- the Maruti Vitara Brezza, new Hyunda Tucson, Toyota Innova Crysta, new Ford Endeavour, new Hyundai Elantra, and Skoda Superb. However, the Vitara Brezza, thanks to its aforementioned attributes, managed to give all the competition a run for its money and impress the judge enough to receive the ICOTY crown
