For Honda India, the WRV could be the most important launch in recent times. There is strong demand for crossovers and SUVs in the Indian market right now and the WR-V might just stop Honda’s sales from declining further. The WRV will be priced below the BRV. However, it will be more crossover-ish. In comparison to the Jazz, it will look more rugged and will have higher ground clearance.
The WRV will, in term of overall form, sit somewhere between cross variants of hatchbacks such as the i20 Active and compact SUVs. It will go on to rival models like the Hyundai i20 Active and the Ford EcoSport.

Honda WRV (Jazz SUV) Exterior
The WRV shares in plenty with the Jazz. However, it looks more rugged and aggressive than the hatchback sibling. The WRV boasts a new front grille, new headlamps, updated bumper and a scuff plate at front. The grille and headlamp profile bear a slight resemblance to the Jazz. However, unlike products like the VW Cross Polo and i20 Active, the WR-V is more than just plastic cladding. The crossover features an aggressive front bumper. Its side profile is characterized by the stylish alloy wheels, roof rails and body cladding. However, this is also the angle where it bears the strongest resemblance to the Jazz. The rear gets a new bumper with a faux scuff plate and new tail lights.
The WRV’s head lights seem to take inspiration from those on the HRV. The car’s nose looks aggressive and gives it a rugged look. The new grille and updated bumper come together to make the car look really butch. The side profile gives a good view of the car’s high ground clearance. The new alloys and body cladding further accentuate the crossover credentials.
Honda WRV Dimensions
Length | 3999 mm |
Width | 1734 mm |
Height | 1601 mm |
Wheelbase | 2555 mm |
The WRV is longer, wider and taller than the Honda Jazz. However, that is mainly due to the new front end design and new bumpers. Interior space should be the same as the Jazz. However, it does get a bigger boot.
Honda WRV Colours

- Modern Steel Metallic
- Alabaster Silver Metallic
- Carnelian Red Pearl
- Golden Brown Metallic
- White Orchid Pearl
The new Honda WRV is available in above 6 paint options.
Honda WRV Interior
The interiors of the WR-V are almost the same as the Jazz. This means it has a typical Honda dashboard with clean surfaces and plenty of cubby holes. The WRV Jazz-based SUV will have a spacious cabin. The 2.6-metre wheelbase will help here. Also, a lot of headroom should give a feeling of spaciousness. As is the case with almost the entire Honda lineup in India, the interiors are more or less the same. The dashboard comes from the Jazz to keep costs in check. The steering, instrument console, aricon controls, all come from the Jazz.
Honda WRV (Jazz SUV) Engine & Transmission
The Honda WRV will be sold with a 1.5-litre i-VTEC FlexOne engine in Brazil. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual and a CVT. This engine will be carried over from the hatchback sibling. Power figures will remain the same. Hence, the Jazz SUV will have a max power-torque of 118 PS and 150 Nm. For India, the WRV gets a 1.2 L Petrol engine from the Jazz. This engine develops 90 PS and 110 Nm. The Diesel model gets the 1.5 L iDTEC Diesel with 100 PS and 200 Nm. While the petrol variants come mated to a 5 Speed Manual Transmission, diesel variants get a 6-speed manual. No CVT on offer for the petrol WRV.
Honda has been struggling a lot in India off late. Sales have seen a constant downward trend and new products have not had a major impact either. Even popular products like the City and Amaze have lost out to competitors in recent times. The Japanese manufacturer is in desperate need of a game changer and that is exactly what the WR-V could be.
