BMW Motorrad unveiled the G310R at EICMA 2015. The manufacturer will commence its Indian operations by launching this streetnaked later this year. Production of the G310R will take place at the Hosur-based TVS plant. Local manufacturing should enable BMW to price the bike really competitively. BMW Motorrad has also come up with a new dual-purpose adventure model on the G310R’s platform. The G310R is already being manufactured at the TVS’ production facility. The G310GS too will be manufactured by TVS locally. The production of the upcoming G310R-based adventure bike will have high localization levels. This should lead to a competitive price.

BMW Motorrad will launch the GS310R around early 2017. The official Twitter handle has given confirmation that the bike will go on sale in India by the end of 2017. We were the first to find our the BMW G310R India launch date thru our sources. Hence, you can safely expect us to update you on the exact G310GS launch date as soon as we dig out more details.
At the launch of the 2017 BMW 3 Series GT, company officials made it very clear that BMW India will soon set up up showrooms and bring their products to India in early 2017. First of these products will be the G310R. The G310R has been spied in India on numerous occasions. Hence, it’s likely that the company is done with tuning the bike for our road conditions. Recently, the adventure variant was spied on foreign soil without any camouflage. All this means that the TVS-BMW alliance will spawn at least three models- BMW G 310R, G 310GS and TVS Akula 300.

It is expected that the G310GS will be priced close to Rs. 3 lakhs. Nothing’s official as of now but heavy localization levels should lead to competitive pricing. We believe that the GS310GS adventure bike will cost around Rs. 2.8 Lakhs in India. This means that the upcoming bike will be slightly pricier than the G310R. Even in Germany and United Kingdom, the G310GS will command a premium over the G310R.

BMW G310GS Engine and Transmission
Powering the TVS BMW G310GS adventure bike will be a new 313cc single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine that will come mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. The engine is likely to have a max. power of 33 PS and a peak torque of 30 Nm. The torque will be higher than that on the G310R. This will ensure that the upcoming BMW adventure bike is sufficiently capable off the road. Fuel mileage is likely to be in tune of 35 KMPL. Expect a top speed of around 140 KMPH.
BMW G310GS Suspension & Brakes
The BMW G310R-based adventure bike will offer spot-on ergonomics and a comfortable riding posture. Front will get a long travel suspension while the rear will get a monoshock suspension. Kerb weight is likely to be around 160 KGs. The bike will be built around a tubular steel chassis. Braking is likely to come from a 300mm disc brake at front and a 240mm disc brake at the rear.
