The original Ford Figo that was sold in India turned out to be a big success for the manufacturer. In 2015, Ford brought the new generation Figo to India to replace the ageing hatchback. The Figo comes with a long list of features, frugal petrol and diesel engines and a spacious interior all wrapped in a very smart looking exterior. It recently got a hefty price cut making it even better value for money than before. Powering the new Ford Figo are a set of 1.2-litre petrol, 1.5-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines. While the 1.2 L petrol and 1.5 L diesel come with a 5-speed manual transmission, the 1.5 L petrol gets a 6-speed automatic. At 25.83 kpl, the diesel Figo is one of the most fuel efficient hatchbacks in its class.
The Ford Aspire is essentially the sedan derivative of the second generation Figo hatchback. This one’s among the better priced Ford cars in India. Both cars get the same front end and interiors. Also, they are powered by the same set of petrol and diesel engines. Initially known as the Ford Figo Aspire, the manufacturer decided to drop the ‘Figo’ from its name to give the sedan its own identity. Recently, the Aspire got a hefty price cut making it even better value for money. In India, the Ford Aspire rivals the likes of the Maruti Swift Dzire, Honda Amaze, Hyundai Xcent, Tata Zest and Volkswagen Ameo.
The EcoSport is among the most popular Ford cars in India ever. Even after the arrival of multiple new products in the compact SUV space, the Ford EcoSport still remains one of the best in its segment. It possesses the quintessential SUV design traits such as the high set bonnet, body cladding, tailgate mounted spare wheel, etc. And the EcoSport gets powerful and fuel-efficient petrol and diesel engines. The features list is extensive and the EcoSport is a rather fun to drive machine. Following the launch of the Vitara Brezza, Ford gave the EcoSport a massive price cut raising its value for money quotient. Ford brought the new generation Endeavour to India in January 2016. The new Endeavour is among the most promising Ford cars in India. It has been able to take the fight to the fan favourite Toyota Fortuner thanks to the terrific value for money it offers. The new Ford Endeavour is available in India with two diesel engine options, automatic and manual transmissions and optional four-wheel drive. This butch looking SUV comes packed with features such as panoramic sunroof, one touch tumble for the third-row seats, auto shut tailgate and more. It rivals in India include Toyota Fortuner, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and Hyundai Santa Fe.
After depriving right-hand drive markets off the joys of owning a Mustang, officially at least, Ford finally bit the bullet. In its sixth and current generation, this iconic car went into production in an RHD format as well. And in July 2016, Ford brought the Mustang to our shores. India gets only the V8 engined hardtop GT trim, which bears a mouth watering sticker price of INR 65 lakhs. The Mustang features styling that takes inspiration from the original car infusing modern design touches giving it a very modern muscle car exterior. The India-spec Mustang churns out just 401 PS, less than the international-spec model, but it can run on the standard quality of fuel available across India.
