Bajaj Auto is working on another useful bike for India commuters, this time its not a 100 CC commuter bike, neither it is a Pulsar 150 CC targeted to urban youth, but it’s a very practical and robust bike Bajaj Boxer 150. Adding a new product to the Bajaj Boxer series, the 150 is mainly aimed at the needs of rural India where bikes don’t only serve as people carrier, but small businesses and farmers use the bikes as a way to carry goods around. In the urban markets, Pulsar and Discover meet the needs of the performance and aesthetic conscious buyers, but for a rural market, a bike with robust engine and load carrying capacity is more desired product. The fuel economy is another major emphasis on the Boxer series of bikes from Bajaj.
The bike is highly inspired and targeted at the rural and tier 2 and 3 cities of India which is a major part of the India buyers. The bike may also be called as Bharat Bike.
In an interaction with media, the MD of BAL quoted:
The Pulsar and Discover are India bikes for the urban, upmarket customer. However, there are a whole lot of other people in smaller centers who need effective transport solutions in the two-wheeler space. The Boxer has been designed to meet this requirement. From our point of view, it is all about a strategy of categories. Simply put, we would like to create our own categories instead of churning out ‘me too’ products.
