As far as the Indian automobile market is concerned, BMW is climbing the success ladder like it did never before and to sales one step further the brand recently rolled out two of its superbikes dubbed BMW S1000RR and BMW R1200GS in India.
The motorcycles are available at two of the exclusive BMW showrooms, Navnit Motors (Mumbai) and Deutsche Motoren (New Delhi). and now considering the superbike segment BMW may bring its motorcycle brand BMW Motorrad officially to India. We expected to company to price the motorcycles in accordance with the competition but when launched, to our surprise these bikes were way too pricy.
When asked about their interest in selling and servicing motorcycles, Andreas Schaaf, president of BMW India, said, “The existing arrangement through which the two dealers sell BMW motorcycles in the country is a pilot plan to assess the market’s response. Once the market response has been tapped BMW Motorrad will officially launch its two wheelers in India,”
Since January 2011 when these bikes were launched in India, BMW has sold 23 bikes so far which is said to be an appreciable response. For this very year the company has set a target of 50 motorcycles and will also offer after sales services.
If launched the company will offer a complete range of breathtaking machines each distinguishable from the rest. You must have realized that BMW is not much into the competition as its bikes are costly and expectedly its complete line-up will fall in the price range of Rs. 18 Lakh to Rs. 35 Lakh.
