April 2011 seems to be the month of price increase for the Indian car industry. The Indian Union Budget is implemented in month of April 2011 in India. All the policy and tax changes are reflected more prominently in this month of the year. Also many private enterprises in India implement the salary hikes for their employees around April.
Among all this action, almost all major automobile companies in India have increased the car prices. Today, Mahindra and Mahindra increased the prices of their cars by up to Rs. 15000. This increase is about 1.5 to 2% increase which has been enforced because of the rising impute cost to the car maker.
Pawan Goenka, President of M&M told media:
We have hiked prices last week by 1.5 to 2 per cent on all our vehicles due to higher commodity costs.
