Ford India started its Chennai plant in January 2010 for assembling Ford engines for Indian cars as well as for export demand. The plant has achieved the 100,000 milestone among the multiple variant launches for domestic and international markets. Chennai plant is the first Ford facility to feature a flexible production line manufacturing petrol and diesel engines. At present, the plant produces five Duratec petrol engine variants and one Duratorq diesel engine variant for Ford cars.
