During the annual press conference of Skoda which was recently held. the manufacturer has put forwards its plan of introducing two new models for the international markets. As they have said that the vehicles will be manufactured globally, the chances of these new cars coming to India are likely to be there.
With not much details on the surface, the manufacturer is being reported to be bringing a small car based on Volkswagen Up and will be placed below the Skoda Fabia while the other will be a sedan positioned between Fabia and Skoda Laura.
Talking about the new small car first, it will be based on Volkswagen Lupo or Volkswagen Up with significant changes in the overall appearance including bodywork, panels , bumpers etc. Considering what the company says, the technical specifications of the small car could be guessed and it could be 1.2-liter CRDI diesel engine with 75 BHP of power along with a 1.2-liter TSI with 86 BHP of power.
The other sedan has no information with it expect for its positioning below the Skoda Laura but the cars are claimed to have a significant price to value ratio. Skoda chairman Winfried Vahland, had said “This car is our answer to the increasingly strong demand for small cars with low fuel consumption and affordable costs of operation and offers a new sales potential in Europe for us.”
