Skoda has been struggling in India for the past few months with a string of disappointing sales figures. Skoda Rapid 1.2 TSI India launch is expected to take place soon, possibly during the festive season.
Specs
Powering the updated Skoda Rapid will be a turbocharged 1.2 litre TSI petrol motor borrowed from the Volkswagen Vento and Polo. Power output is likely to be identical to that of the Vento at around 105 PS and 175 Nm torque. The Vento 1.2 TSI comes mated to a 7-speed DSG, however, reports suggest that the Skoda Rapid will come with a 5-speed manual. Other mechanical details are unknown as of now and we do not expect to see much change. The 12. TSI petrol could be sold along with the current line-up of a 1.6 litre petrol and 1.5 litre diesel or it could replace the 1.6 litre petrol altogether. Fuel efficiency could be similar to that of the Vento’s hoeverig around 18 kmpl mark.

The Skoda Rapid 1.2 TSI India launch is yet to be confirmed as there has been no official word from the company. However, it could turn out to be a smart move on Skoda’s part as the smaller unit is cheaper and more fuel efficient than the existing 1.6 litre petrol motor.
