The Maruti Ciaz has turned out to be a popular choice among mid-size sedan buyers in India. Although there are hardly any major faults with the car as such there have been complaints about there the underpowered nature of the 1.3 litre diesel motor offered by Maruti. This unit produces around 89 bhp power and 200 Nm torque which are amongst the lowest figures in its class. To address this issue, Maruti is mulling launching a 1.6 litre diesel version of the Ciaz in the near future. If this actually happens then the Maruti Ciaz will be able to match the Hyundai Verna‘s power output and will become significantly more powerful than the Honda City. Read on to find out all there is to know about the Maruti Ciaz 1.6 diesel.

The introduction of the Maruti Ciaz 1.6 diesel would boost the car’s appeal in the market and enable it to take on the Hyundai Verna 1.6 as well. Although there will be a significant bump in prices it will still be at par with the competition which is already dearer by more than a lakh when compared spec fro spec. Added features could also help push sales of the Ciaz which, armed with a 1.6 litre diesel, would appeal to a wider set of car buyers.
