Renault has pulled up its socks to make its entry into Indian Automobile market on its own without entering a major joint venture like it has with Mahindra Renault. As a part of this roadmap, Renault will enter India with Renault Fluence which will be launched in Indian in June 2011 at an aggressive price point. The Fluence will shortly be followed by a crossover or mini SUV launch – Renault Koleos to be launched around the end of year 2011 which is expected to be fitted with a 2.4 Litre engine with 170 BHP max power and 230 Nm of Torque. Renault will scale up its own dealer network in India by the end of year 2013. In January 2014, Renault will showcase its small car in Indian Auto Expo 2014. The car will be a Global A-Platform concept car. Based on this global small concept car, Renault will launch its small car for India. The production version of the small car from Renault may hit Indian roads by the end of 2014 or early 2015. The car will be priced under Rs. 4 Lakhs and will directly compete with popular small cars like Maruti Wagon R, Hyundai i10, Chevrolet Beat, Ford Figo etc..
With a clear and achievable roadmap Renault may come up to set its right foot in India. There are critics to it, but I feel that there is always a beginning and this might be the beginning of Indian roads journey for Renault. We are keeping are eyes on its and will bring you any happenings and updates as they happen, stay tuned.
