The Maruti Wagon R Xrest edition which was showcased earlier at 2014 Delhi Auto Expo has recently been spied. The images reveal Wagon R’s facelifted look suggesting that it will come as a crossover. This new edition of Wagon R gets revised interiors and exteriors. The car has been aesthetically modified to give it a sportier look. Maruti has been alienating its existing car models by bringing in smart new features which out do its competitiors. Earlier this month, we reported about the expected launch of Maruti Wagon R AMT (Automatic Manual Transmission) in the Stingray edition to keep it at the premium end line up, now Maruti has come up with a new Wagon R Xrest edition.
The bumper and the front grille have been revised. A lot of cladding can be seen on lower sides of the doors, wheel arches, roof rails, mirrors and front bumper encompassing the fog lamps. It also gets smoked headlamps and silver skid side guards. Not only this, it also gets smoked tail lights while rest of the rear remains somewhat similar to existing Wagon R editions. It also gets new alloy wheel design with seven spoke alloy wheels, giving the car a completely different look. As the interior modifications, this car gets beige and brown dual tone colour scheme panels with beige, brown and black upholstery. The console is done in wood, giving it an attractive appeal.
The refreshed interiors and newly designed exteriors make the car look smarter and more appealing than the outgoing versions. It is expected to be inspired from other Wagon R special and limited edition models with similar mechanical specifications. It will be powered by 998 cc, three cylinder light weight K10B all aluminium petrol engine, producing 68 PS of maximum power at 6200 rpm and 90 Nm of peak torque at 3500 rpm. It will come with a 5 speed manual transmission. For safety purpose, it may come with driver side airbag, ABS, front & rear fog lamps and engine immobilizer like outgoing variants.
It seems that the crossover edition of the car- Wagon R Xrest will be launched soon in India. Wagon R has been present in India for many years now, lets hope this improved pseudo-SUV look of the car retains its customers in such competitive market. The price of this edition is expected to be slightly higher than the regular model.
