UML is launching a cruiser range of motorcycles in the second quarter of 2015. This decision that followed the previous strategic joint venture with Lohia Auto in September this year.
The company is widely known for its break through innovations and exclusive features which are usually found in high end cars. India saw UM international displaying some of the latest technology in 2014 Auto Expo. One should keep in mind that the brand’s existing portfilio doesn’t have a product in the medium displacement segment which hints that the new powertrains are being developed.

UML is going to benefit from Lohia Auto’s existing facility located at Kashipur, Uttarakhand. The local production will happen there itself as the company has previously announced an investment of INR 120 crore. The capacity of the facility is around 1,00,000 units per annum.
The current flagship offering is Renegade Commando with the 223 cc single-cylinder air cooled engine. UM Motorcycles hope to launch cruisers of 350-500 cc range in the next calendar year of 2015. The company will open with about 50 dealers in the first phase in the first year. These dealerships will mostly cover all metro cities.
The UM cruiser motorcycles will try to enter the fast growing Indian market by offering the consumers a fresh alternative. They plan to expand in all segments abs not just cruiser motorcycles. The global company promises to keep the prices competitively fixed to try and create a niche market for the more younger generation who would swoon at the site of an affordable cruiser.
