Many car manufacturers are set on the roll this year. Earlier this month it was Honda to import Civic diesel to India for R&D purposes, now Toyota has done the same. Toyota has imported its entry level car- Toyota Aygo to India for the same reason of R&D, as revealed by zauba.com. Lets have a look at this car in detail and what it offers. Let us also talk about the possibility of this car making it to the Indian roads.
Specifications:
Aygo gets a 998cc petrol engine producing 68 BHP of maximum power and 95 Nm of maximum torque. It measures 3455 mm in length, competing with Maruti Alto. Two variants of Toyota Aygo have been uncovered, one with a manual gearbox and another with an AMT gearbox considering the popularity of AMT cars in India. Aygo may be compact on the outside, but it’s amazingly roomy inside, with space for four and ample luggage. It’s new suspension gives an even smoother drive, and thanks to a turning circle of just 4.8 metres, no road is too narrow, no turn too tight. Indeed, with Aygo’s nimble handling every journey is loads of fun. Also, its reduced fuel consumption saves you even more money.
Additional Features:
Agyo is presently sold only in Europe. European Aygo, is equipped with many interesting features such as airbags, ABS, vehicle stability control, curtain airbags, child seat attachment, tyre pressure monitoring, adjustable speed limiter and hill start assist projector headlamps, LED tail lamps, LED DRLs, touchscreen infotainment system etc. are ; but most of these features are expected to be omitted in Indian Aygo in the name of cost cutting. But it is most likely to have airbags and anti-lock braking system feature, which are expected to me made compulsory in India in the near future.
With the success of Corolla, Innova, Fortuner and Camry and defeat of Liva and Etios models in India for their dull styling, Toyota is likely to deliver the best in the new hatchback. Aygo stands out with its fresh and vibrant new design.
Price & Launch:
Since Toyota is tapping the sub-4 lakh rupee segment with Aygo, it could prove to be a good reference to the expected price range. Date for launch is still not revealed, since it is not clear whether the car is really going to be launched in India or not. But if the car is coming to India, then it is expected to hit the Indian streets by 2016. It will be positioned below Liva and Etios models of Toyota. Toyota is expected to offer better quality and reliability with the new hatchback than the existing ones in India.
