Maruti Suzuki has planned a very aggressive strategy for the Indian market for the coming few years with updates and facelifts of the existing products and introduction of brand new vehicles. One such vehicle to be is rumoured to be a premium Ciaz hatchback codenamed YRA. The car should be revealed by the end of next year or early 2016 and will be placed above the Swift quite possibly to take on the Hyundai Elite i20 and the forthcoming Honda Jazz.
The pictures shown here are rendering of the Ciaz hatchback and what it might look like in its final production guise. Based on them the vehicle looks smart and well proportioned probably because it has been converted from a sedan to a hatchback and not the other way around. These renderings are merely speculative though and the final form could be similar or could be different from them.
The Ciaz hatchback or the YRA will most likely share the engine options with the sedan but other options such as a new 1.5 litre diesel or a 1.0 litre 3 cylinder petrol could also be offered.
After the launch of the facelifted Swift Maruti has a slew of new products planned for the Indian market starting with the new Alto K10 equipped with an AMT, followed by the facelifted Swift Dzire in January 2015 and the S-Cross crossover in March later that year. This Ciaz based premium hatch will add to the company’s extensive portfolio and help them in securing substantial market share in every segment possible.
