Kawasaki has launched a pair of naked street bikes in India namely the Ninja Z250 and the ER-6n making the former the cheapest Kawasaki on sale in the country. The motrocycle community in India has been waiting eagerly for the launch, especially for the Ninja Z250 which was originally slated for a June 2014 launch but was deferred for reasons unknown.
Prices
- The Kawasaki Ninja Z250 is priced at Rs. 2.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi)
- The Kawasaki ER-6n is priced at Rs. 4.78 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi)
Details
The Ninja Z250 is essentially a naked version of the Ninja 250R but gets aggressive muscular styling inspired from its elder siblings such as the Z800 and Z1000. It also features a more upright seating position as is the case with most streetbikes to aid ergonomics for city riding. On the technical front the bike features:
- 249cc liquid-cooled, 4-stroke Parallel Twin engine
- 32 PS maximum power
- 21Nm maximum torque
- Fuel injection and Dual Throttle Valve technology for better efficiency
- 6 speed transmission
- Front telescopic shock absorbers and rear monoshock
- Single disc front and rear brakes
As far as the ER-6n is concerned it is the naked version of the Ninja 650R albeit with a mean, naked streetbike look. Like the Z250 this bike also features an upright riding position. There’s not much of a difference between the ER-6n and the Ninja 650R in terms of technical specs:
- 649cc liquid-cooled, 4-stroke Parallel Twin engine
- 72.1 PS maximum power
- 64 Nm maximum torque
- 6-speed transmission
- Front telescopic shock absorbers and rear side-mounted monoshock
- Twin disc brakes at the front and single disc at the rear
Kawasaki has sold 1,500 units in India so far this year and will be hoping to add to that tally with the newly launched Ninja Z250 and ER-6n with the former expected to bring in good sales figures which shouldn’t be that difficult considering its price. Both bikes are assembled at Ckahan, Pune and brought in from Thailand as CKDs.
