The much awaited Yamaha MT25 has been revealed at a motorcycle fest in Indonesia and the new model will soon go on sale in the South-east Asian nation. The latest Yammie is basically a streetnaked sibling of the YZF-R25 sans fairing, and has just become the fourth member of the bike-maker’s popular MT brand of bikes. The other three motorcycles in the MT family are – MT-09, MT-07 and MT-125.

The new motorcycle shares many panels with its fair-ed sibling, but gets a new headlight cluster that does not look much like that of the bigger MTs. Also, the headlight cluster will sport LED pilot lamps above the headlamps. The bike features conventional telescopic forks upfront, which have been blackened out, like the MT07 ( and not golden like those of the MT 09). The MT25 logo is positioned on tank extensions, which is again similar to other models in the MT series. Also, the MT25 gets a small fly screen. The MT25 allows borrows some design cues from the MT125 and looks like a slightly grown up MT125 than a smaller MT07.
Powering the Yamaha MT25 streetnaked bike will be the same 249 cc twin cylinder engine that powers the YZF-R25. This engine belts out a maximum power of 36 PS and a peak torque of 22.6 Nm for the R25. For the MT25, however, the engine might come in a slightly different state of tune. The new bike will go on sale for IDR 46 million (INR 2.2 lakhs).
