As we had reported earlier the coming months is set to be the war of the MPV’s, with the next generation Innova being tested, Honda Mobilio launched and Maruti Suzuki Ertiga doing fairly well. It seems Mahindra too wants to enter the war-zone with an updated Xylo. The Xylo MPV has been witnessing slowing sales for quite some time now. Data shows that Mahindra was able to sell 13,961 units of the Xylo in the last fiscal year. The number is about 45% lower when it comes to the sales witnessed a year back. The diminishing numbers shouldn’t be a surprise as the Xylo hasn’t been updated in a while plus the new found competition is not doing it any favours too. So lets have a peek at what the updated Mahindra Xylo has in store for us.
Price:
The expected price for the Updated Xylo is expected to be in the region of Rs. 7.8 – 10.8 Lakh (Ex Showroom)
The Updates:
You can expect to see the following changes made to the Mahindra Xylo,
Interiors:
- New dual-tone black and beige interior finish
- Inclusion of a new 60:40 Split folding third row
- Improvement of lumbar support in the second row
- Fresh seat fabrics
- Changed instrument cluster design
Exteriors:
- Additional Chrome
- Body graphics on the side
- Decals on the rear
Engine:
In May last year, Mahindra updated the Xylo with the 2.2-liter four-cylinder mHawk engine which makes 120 bhp and 280 Nm of torque. Hence the powertrain would continue unchanged, though further improvements could be seen to the suspension system.
Mahindra has given a thought on changing the looks of their existing Xylo (Thankfully!), but there are not a lot of drastic changes to talk about. Will these updates be enough to keep the Xylo afloat or is it going to be badgered by this new age competition it faces ?
