In midst of recently launched S-Class Coupe and the yet to be launched S-Class Pullman the news has been that Mercedes-Benz is working on a Maybach version as a new introduction to the S-class family . Now the same has been caught on cam while being tested at Nürburgring in Germany. The pictures of the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class Maybach has been doing the rounds on the internet for a while.
The not so successful ride of Maybach 57 and Maybach 62 sedans has compelled the German company to change the standalone brand to a sub-brand like AMG. The company was expected to launch a S-Class model with the Maybach tag on if the recent news are to be believed. The same is now almost confirmed with these spy photographs.
The pictures show a car with longer doors signifying larger legroom in the car with less aggressive and more classic design. The S-Class convoy is likely to include two Maybach models among which the range topper will be a S600 Maybach and the other will be S500 Maybach. It is expected that the S600 will have a twin-turbocharged 5.5-litre V-12 engine at the center and the S500 will be powered by the 455 horsepower V-8.
The cars will also have other general Mercedes’ features like Steer Assist Autonomous System, Pre-Safe Accident Avoidance, Weariness Monitor and the latest COMAND interface. The overall package is likely to have a lower price than the original Maybach sedans and will rival Bentley Flying Spur and Rolls Royce Ghost. The company is probably planning to target the limousine segment with this spacious offering.
