MG Cyber Trio Debuts at Shanghai Auto Show
Arguably, the most relevant product in this range is the Cyberster EV. The 2026 version adds two new colours – Iris Blue and Andes Gray. Inside, buyers can choose between Red/Black or Gray/White dual-tone themes. Trim panels now match the body colour for a more cohesive cabin. A redesigned wind deflector reduces interior airflow by 90%, improving comfort without losing its sporty edge. Since launch, over 3,000 units have been delivered worldwide in just six months. It currently holds the title of the best-selling electric coupe. A special Black edition adds gloss-black paint and chrome detailing. The lineup also grows with the upcoming Cyber GTS hardtop, offering more variety for different driver preferences.
On the other hand, the MG Cyber X Concept is created by Joseph Kaban, the designer of the iconic Bugatti Veyron. It features a tall stance and compact overhangs, giving it a bold shape. Its design blends sharp forms with smooth surfaces, creating contrast between urban refinement and rugged cues. The body is finished in ‘Stardust Gray’, which appears matte and textured when still. In motion, reflections shift across the panels, echoing the look of moving light on glass. The front design includes a modern take on classic pop-up headlights. This detail not only references older models but also supports improved aerodynamics. It adds a refined, functional touch to the vehicle’s exterior.
My View
MG is certainly trying to establish its identity in the EV industry. In India, we have already seen it achieve massive success with the Windsor EV. In addition, it continues to sell the Comet EV and ZS EV. While these are relatively mass market products, the Cyberster will be reserved for the affluent. Let us keep an eye out for the Indian launch and the price tag it boasts.
