The Polo has been one of the most successful car models of VW in the global as well as Indian market. But as per the recent news the car’s two latest variants. The VW Polo GT TSI and GT TDI have been discontinued by the German automobile manufacturer. The Polo GT TSI & TDI have been stopped being produced in the VW’s local facility. This news is confirmed by the certain big city car dealers who reportedly said that though the stocks have extinguished but no new stocks have arrived. Now this is giving strength to the unconfirmed news of new Polo variants to be launched soon in India. So this can also be treated as a follow up to our previous article reporting the speculated specifications of the new Polo variants.
The discontinuation of the 2013 year variant of VW Polo GT seems like a step to make way for a newer (and more powerful) variant. The arrival of a new 1.5 L diesel engine and the use of same 1.2 L petrol engine is expected. In addition to these technical additions the car will also have a refreshing makeover. The car will be added with new bumpers, new grille and some more chrome on the foglights’ surrounding on its exterior while the interior changes majorly boast of a new three spoke steering. The present variant is loved by the experts, enthusiasts and customers but the company’s new offering is expected to be even good at the performance charts.
The current Polo GT TSI uses a 1.2 L turbocharged 3-cylinder petrol engine which makes the car one of the bests in segment by giving out a maximum power of 74 bhp and a maximum torque of 180 N-m. On the other hand the Polo GT TDI uses a 1.6 L diesel engine to give out a maximum power of 105 bhp and a maximum torque of 250 N-m. The transmission system includes a 7-speed dual clutch gear box for the TSI and a 5-speed manual gearbox for the TDI. This diesel car has been the ruling contender in its respective segment due to its acclaimed performance and features.
