The Kia Syros bears a distinction of being the most feature-loaded product in the sub-4m SUV category
After spending a week with the Kia Syros, I would love to share some of its key USPs, which make it a unique offering. For the uninitiated, Syros is a distinct product which is positioned between the Sonet and Seltos in Kia’s India lineup. That is quite intriguing in itself since there is already a price overlap between the Sonet and Seltos. Still, the Korean auto giant has managed to squeeze in yet another vehicle in this price bracket. For now, let us discuss the 6 USPs I found during my time with the SUV.
6 USPs of Kia Syros
- Design – It is hard to ignore the unique appearance the Kia Syros bears. Inspired by the global Kia products like the EV9, this styling certainly made heads turn everywhere I drove it this past week. In fact, the boxy and upright silhouette also attracts comments from onlookers, who spot some resemblance with the Land Rover Defender.
- Space – You can be forgiven for thinking that, since Syros is a sub-4m compact SUV, it is not all that spacious. Since this is inspired by the global design theme, the rear seats can recline and slide to liberate acres of space for the passengers. That is something you don’t see in vehicles of this segment.
- Features – We know that an extensive features list is something Kia is known for. The Syros drives that point home. Among many amenities, the main ones include a panoramic sunroof, trinity display (3 screens – infotainment, instrument cluster and another one between them), ventilated front and rear seats, connected car tech features, drive modes, traction modes, etc. Those who want the latest gadgets and gizmos will certainly appreciate this.
- 5-star Safety Rating – As per the official Bharat NCAP score, the Kia Syros bagged a full 5-star safety rating in Adult Occupant Protection (AOP), as well as Child Occupant Protection (COP) categories. This is due to the fact that it offers 6 airbags in all trims, Level 2 ADAS, and tons of passive and active safety equipment to keep the passengers safe.
- Petrol and Diesel Engines – Lately, we have seen carmakers ditching the diesel mills due to stringent emission norms. It becomes too expensive to keep upgrading them to meet the ever-changing emission norms. However, Kia is among the very few automakers that are still offering diesel at this price point. The buyers get the option to choose between a turbo petrol or a turbo diesel mill. On top of that, there are manual and automatic transmissions to choose from. Hence, the needs of all sorts of buyers can be met.
- Value for Money – With a starting price of just Rs 9 lakh, the Syros is certainly among the most feature-packed products at this price point. There are tons of new-age amenities, bold styling and powerful engines along with the utmost safety prowess. These are the top 6 USPs I unearthed during my time with the SUV.
