The EV9 is the global flagship model from the Korean auto giant
The features list of the Kia EV9 is rather extensive. The large electric SUV represents the best that Kia has to offer globally. In India, we already have the EV6, which is doing decently well on the sales charts. However, with the EV9, Kia has expanded its portfolio. Note that we received the EV9 in a single fully-loaded GT-Line AWD configuration. For the uninitiated, EV9 took home the title of World Car of the Year 2024. Clearly, it is a critically acclaimed product. For now, let us glance at the top 5 incredible features of the electric SUV.
Top 5 Features of Kia EV9
As a part of the media drive, I was able to spend some time with the Kia EV9. Therefore, I experienced the product from the inside out quite thoroughly. Here are my top 5 highlights:
- Concealed Lights – At the front, you will need to have a closer look at the fascia to witness the lights behind the glass panel. These are positioned adjacent to the massive LED DRLs and vertically oriented lighting. These definitely bear a new-age appearance.
- Boxy Silhouette – The tall and large silhouette lends the EV an imposing road presence. It is bound to make heads turn anywhere it goes. On top of that, it still boasts an aerodynamic body with a drag coefficient of just 0.28 Cd. That is quite impressive for a vehicle of this size and demeanour.
- Camera-based IRVM – Moving to the inside, the Kia EV9 gets a unique IRVM. In a normal setting, it acts like a regular mirror. However, if there are numerous passengers and the visibility at the rear decreases, you can flip it to act as a camera feed, which receives digital input from the rear parking camera.
- Massage Function for Second Row Seats – Since the EV9 is the most luxurious product from the Korean auto giant, it offers a massage function to the occupants in the second row. The controls can be operated via a touchscreen panel placed between the two seats in the second row itself.
- Powered Tumble Seats – This is, again, a convenience amenity where the users can simply press the buttons in the boot compartment to fold the rear seats to create a cavernous luggage area. All these functionalities certainly put the Kia EV9 into a league of its own.
Specs
The Kia EV9 is underpinned by the familiar E-GMP architecture from the Hyundai Motor Group. The 3-row electric SUV contains a colossal 99.8 kWh battery pack, which offers a range of 561 km on a single charge. It powers two electric motors (one on each axle) to generate a mammoth 379 hp and a peak torque of 700 Nm of maximum power and torque, respectively. Due to the 800-volt architecture, it can go from 10% to 80% in a matter of 24 minutes. The price tag for the flagship Kia car in the country is a whopping Rs 1.30 Crore, ex-showroom. This certainly puts it way out of the league of most potential car buyers in India.
