The French car marque has been in the process of launching the Dark Edition trims of its multiple models on sale in India
I recently got the opportunity to experience the new Citroen C3 Dark Edition in the flesh and would love to share my opinions. Note that Citroen offers only SUVs in India. It aims to leverage the popularity of SUVs in the last few years. In fact, we have seen new segments emerge to further bifurcate these vehicles. Apart from that, Dark Edition avatars are also gaining prominence in our market, especially among young buyers. That is why Citroen has launched the Dark Edition models of its SUVs. Here is what I discovered about the Citroen C3 Dark Edition.
Citroen C3 Dark Edition
During my walkaround tour of the Citroen C3 Dark Edition, I checked out the differences on the exterior in comparison to the regular model. The SUV is finished in the Perla Nera Black colour. There are black elements on the body, including the matte black front grille, black treatment on the Chevron logo at the front, along with red inserts on the sides of the fog lamps, with a rugged contrasting scuff plate. You will also find the Dark Edition badge on the door panels and a red highlight on the C-pillars.
Moving to the inside reveals an all-black upholstery with red stitching and accents. The seat covers are leatherette, and there is a Dark Edition engraving on the seats with red elements. However, I must mention that this trim doesn’t come with any new features. Therefore, you would still notice the missing amenities like sunroof, push button start and ventilated seats. Nevertheless, the aim of this version is to offer a sporty feel inside the cabin.
Specs and Price
The French carmaker has launched the Dark Edition version of the C3 at a starting price of Rs 8.38 lakh, ex-showroom. This is Rs 19,500 more expensive than the similar trim in the standard variant. The top model retails for Rs 10.19 lakh, ex-showroom. The powertrain options remain unchanged. This means a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine, which produces a decent 83 PS and 115 Nm, or a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder turbo petrol mill which belts out a healthy 110 PS and 190 Nm (205 Nm with the automatic transmission) of peak power and torque, respectively. One can choose between a 5-speed manual or an automatic transmission. Let us see how well the customers embrace this.
