The commercial vehicle segment in India might be dominated by the indigenous players, but exports are a different story
Isuzu Motors India is now the leading commercial vehicles exporter from India. That is a huge achievement with the kind of competition it faces from the likes of Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra. When we talk about Isuzu, most people are just interested in knowing about the V-Cross lifestyle pickup truck. It is one of the most popular products in its segment for a while now. However, Isuzu is renowned globally for its rugged, capable and reliable commercial vehicles. It exports a lot of these from India itself.
Isuzu is Leading Commercial Vehicles Exporter from India
As per the official press release, Isuzu Motors India (IMI) reached a prominent milestone by emerging as the top exporter of commercial vehicles from India in FY2024-25. During this time, it managed to export an impressive 20,312 units, which marks a healthy 24% growth in comparison to the same time a year ago. In FY2023-24, this number was just 16,329 units. Furthermore, Isuzu Motors India has consistently ranked among the top three CV exporters from India in recent years.
Note that IMI has its modern manufacturing facility in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh. Here, it produces vehicles for both left-hand drive and right-hand drive markets across Asia and the Middle East. These include nations like Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman and Jordan. Also important to notice about this manufacturing plant is that it recently rolled out its 100,000th vehicle. Clearly, it is a crucial and strategic location for Isuzu’s global operations.
