To mark the distinction between its ICE and EV range, Mahindra has announced two new sub-brands for its latest electric cars – XEV and BE. These EVs use the bespoke INGLO architecture with all the modern bells and whistles. In fact, the Indian auto giant plans to sell these products across various international markets in the times to come.

During their ride, they drove across various traffic conditions, including congested streets of the city, as well as open stretches of the highway. Also, they used the wireless charging, air conditioning and other in-cabin amenities. After a drive of around 11 hours, they completed an impressive 497 km on a single charge. Towards the last battery levels, the EV switched off wireless charging and reduced the efficiency of the AC to maximize range. Overall, this is a healthy real-world number.

Apart from that, there are two powertrain options to choose from, depending on the battery sizes – 79 kWh and 59 kWh. Mahindra claims a range of 656 km and 542 km, respectively, on a single charge. However, the main talking point is the performance courtesy of power and torque of 286 hp and 380 Nm with the larger battery, to 231 hp and 380 Nm with the smaller unit, respectively. With a 175 kW DC fast charger, the EV can be charged from 20% to 80% in a matter of 20 minutes. In the most aggressive settings, the 0-100 km/h acceleration comes up in just 6.8 seconds. It retails from Rs 21.90 lakh to Rs 30.50 lakh, ex-showroom.
