In this post, we come across a drag race between the new Hero Xtreme 250R and the KTM Duke 250. The 250-cc segment in India is growing rapidly. There are all sorts of motorcycles from multiple two-wheeler manufacturers catering to the varying needs of consumers. The Xtreme 250R is the latest entrant in this space. It offers great performance at an attractive price point. On the other hand, the Duke 250 has made its mark on many bike enthusiasts. For now, let us see how well these two compete in a straight line.
New Hero Xtreme 250R vs KTM Duke 250 Drag Race
This video stems from Ayush Sharma on YouTube. The host has the two motorcycles with him. For the first round, he takes the KTM Duke 250, while his companion takes the Hero Xtreme 250R. On the count of three, the Xtreme takes the lead. Interestingly, it is able to maintain that lead for a long time. Towards the end, the Duke was able to catch it. Still, the Xtreme won the first round. To maintain the consistency of results, the duo switched the riders for the second round. However, this time around, the Xtreme didn’t let the Duke overtake it. Clearly, the Hero Xtreme 250R is the faster of the two.
Hero Xtreme 250R vs KTM Duke 250 – Specs
The new Hero Xtreme 250R draws power from a potent 249-cc 4-stroke single-cylinder liquid-cooled DOHC engine, which generates a healthy 30 PS and 25 Nm of maximum power and torque, respectively. Performing the transmission duties is a 6-speed transmission with wet and assist & slip clutch. The Xtreme 250R weighs 168 kg and has a ground clearance of 167 mm. Buyers will get disc brakes on both wheels, and the fuel capacity is a decent 11.5 litres. With a wheelbase of 1,357 mm, the motorcycle bears a price tag of Rs 1.80 lakh, ex-showroom.
On the other hand, the KTM Duke 250 is on sale with a 249-cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine, which generates a healthy 31 PS and 25 Nm of maximum power and torque, respectively. You get a 6-speed transmission with this mill. The bike has a kerb weight of 163 kg and it gets disc brakes on both wheels. The fuel tank is a substantially larger 15 litres, while the wheelbase is almost similar, 1,354 mm. However, it has a significantly greater ground clearance of 176 mm. If you wish to get your hands on it, you will need to shell out Rs 2.28 lakh, ex-showroom. It is evidently more expensive than the Xtreme.
