We often come across Chinese replicas of luxury vehicles, and this is the latest example of that trend
In this post, we take a look at the details of a fake Chinese Land Rover Defender. We have seen loads of replicas from China being exported to many parts of the world. In fact, in recent times, many top automobile content creators have imported such replicas to their countries. This recent instance is a primary case in point. Without any further ado, let us delve into the specifics of this latest event.
Fake Chinese Land Rover Defender
We are able to feast our eyes on this unique vehicle courtesy of Supercar Blondie on YouTube. The hosts commence the video by unboxing the fake Land Rover Defender. Once they bring it out of the plastic wrap, they walk around the compact SUV. At the front, the company has done a decent job in replicating the rectangular headlamps with round LED DRLs integrated inside the headlight module. Also, the silver graphics on the bumper look sporty. However, the build quality is expectedly flimsy, to say the least. Considering the $4,000 (approx Rs 3.5 lakh) price tag, that is to be expected.
On the sides, the tiny wheels, the upright stance and the miniature size become apparent. In fact, this is an electric vehicle. Admittedly, the tail end is not all that convincing. The LED taillamps don’t resemble the actual Defender. The hosts even brought in a real Defender for comparison. On the inside, the fake Defender gets foldable rear seats, spacious cabin, touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, fake wood paneling with textures, AC vents on the dashboard, 5-seat layout, carbon fiber gear lever console, and much more.
Driving Impressions
Finally, they take the real and the fake Land Rover Defender on a treacherous terrain. The fake vehicle is evidently struggling. Firstly, the Chinese Defender couldn’t climb the uphill slope which the original SUV nailed. Thereafter, they drove the two cars on an uneven surface to test the suspension and wheel articulation. Eventually, both SUVs came out with the passing marks. In the end, they drove the SUVs on an inclined obstacle on one side. Again, the SUVs completed the task but the fake Land Rover Defender struggled a bit. Overall, it managed to survive this test.
